THE LAMP

An icon of seventies design, this accent lamp designed by Philippe Rogier for the French publisher Oxar captures the entire futuristic aesthetic of the 1970s. Its cylindrical diffuser in smoked blue Altuglas, held by three chrome claws, creates a subtle play of transparency.

Supplied with a new silver-capped bulb, it diffuses elegant decorative lighting, ideal on a console, a desk or an accent table. The contrast between the tinted Plexiglas and the chromed steel gives it an appearance that is both industrial and sophisticated, typical of 70s design.

the short story

An iconic French furniture and lighting designer of the 1970s, Philippe Rogier was part of a generation of creators fascinated by new materials and futuristic forms. In an era marked by space exploration and the rise of experimental design, he developed pieces for Oxar that combined chrome, smoked Plexiglas, and bold geometric lines.
His creations perfectly embody the "Space Age" aesthetic: sculptural, almost cinematic objects, where light becomes a genuine element of staging. The tinted transparency of Altuglas, a highly innovative material at the time, allowed for the creation of soft and sophisticated atmospheres, a departure from traditional lighting fixtures.
Today, Philippe Rogier's signed pieces are sought after for their timeless elegance and their ability to embody the optimistic and avant-garde spirit of 1970s France.
